9 ‘Appliance Garage’ Ideas to Declutter Your Kitchen Countertop
- Apr 30, 2024
Because we live in a world of consumerism, I’ve an air fryer, a toaster oven, a coffee machine, and a rice cooker taking up precious real estate on my kitchen countertop. I might need a Marie Kondo in my life (although last I’ve heard, she’s given up on decluttering), but perhaps these appliance garage ideas would be a better solution to my storage woes.
For the uninitiated, an appliance garage is really just a fancy way of saying a dedicated storage space for your appliances. Below, you'll find a variety of solutions, whether you need small-space-friendly cubbies or something for a kitchen full of appliances (like mine), all in a bid to help you declutter your kitchen countertop.
1. Pull-Out Drawers
Having pull-out drawers in your kitchen cabinets can make it so much easier to grab your appliances without having to reach far back. Plus, you can use them right there in the drawer without having to transfer them to the countertop.

2. Integrated Pantry
An integrated kitchen pantry lets you store all your appliances in one convenient location. I love how this idea takes up an otherwise awkward corner, and the fact that it’s a walk in one as well makes it even better!

3. Corner Solution
Speaking of awkward corners, another great solution is this appliance garage. Since it fits snugly in the corner, it provides extra deep storage space. Plus, I love how the doors can be neatly tucked away, making access easy and convenient.

7. Tucked-Away Open Niche
Having an open niche in the corner of your kitchen is a convenient way to store everyday appliances. They stay hidden but easily accessible, and if you add power outlets, you can use your appliances without having to shift them elsewhere.

8. Floating Shelf
Floating shelves are a perfect solution for keeping your kitchen open and spacious without overcrowding it with built-in cabinets. They also work well as appliance garages, allowing for easy access to power outlets and the flexibility to move appliances around as needed.

9. Under-Cabinet Cubby
Create a designated spot below your lower cabinets for an appliance garage. Ensure it's spacious enough to accommodate all your appliances and add power outlets for convenient use. Opt for a lift-and-tuck door for easy accessibility.
