DreamCatcher Interior Design

dreamcatcher has a nice location, office, and try to make the sales pitch experience enjoyable. Their designs are quite nice as well - as with most interior designers I think they do a decent job in these areas. However, don't be fooled by the nice shiny wrapping. The real product/service I believe is a team's skills in project management and customer service. Unfortunately, this is where dreamcatcher fails terribly. I'm not saying that an interior designer can't make mistakes, in fact they will make lots of mistakes, but this is remedied by exceptional customer service - and sadly dreamcatcher fails in both of these qualities. 1. Multiple instances of the team installing the table cover incorrectly - i know it sounds confusing, it's just a table cover right? But trust me, dreamcatcher will surely catch this nightmare for you too - they sent their team 3 times to have our table cover removed and reapplied over the course of 2 weeks - we had to eat on carton boxes. 2. Multiple instances of the team installing our toilet bowls incorrectly. Here's the worst part, Jomin claimed it is IMPOSSIBLE that her team installed it incorrectly - and after a month of having HDB send consultants (yes you heard me, consultants), they concluded that the smell is in fact coming from the toilet bowls due to incorrect installation. But wait, there's more! dreamcatcher had to come back twice because they still got it wrong during their first "fix". Now if you've ever wanted to live with sewer smell, don't wait any longer - thanks dreamcatcher for making this nightmare come true. 3. Compilation of smaller incidents: a. it turns out dreamcatcher team likes to discard of debris down the drain as well. After about 2-3 months of living in our unit, we experienced a drain choke - instead of asking dreamcatcher we just called a plumber who fixed it in a few hours. He showed us all the debris he had to remove and we decided to not claim anything back from dreamcatcher as we think a customer/vendor relationship should have some give-and-take. b. after living in our unit for over a year, we realized that one of our bathroom pipes might be leaking as we realized it was getting very mouldy and dirty - HDB took a quick glance and mentioned that they can observe a tiny crack. They enquired if we did our bathroom tiles, which we did, and mentioned that it is "likely" that it was caused during the renovation process. Naturally I asked Jomin about it - and after a month wait (because of CNY she said, we all need our month long break, right?), she finally replied saying a person called Martin wants to speak to HDB because they think it's impossible for a pipe to have a crack for that long. Martin was polite enough to tell me that he will only engage if HDB asks them to and nicely hung up on my face mid-discussion. Listen - all I wanted was my interior designer to come down and take a look to hear their assessment, but i guess i can't have that either! Truly living the exceptional customer service experience i was hoping for - dreamcatcher caught this nightmare for me once again. Once again - mistakes can happen. However, dreamcatcher is also special in that they don't like to take accountability nor ownership of their mistakes. If you ask Jomin, she will just simply blame the project team - i can't recall the last time she or anyone at dreamcatcher actually apologized about the mistakes and took ownership of it as my interior designer who is managing the project. All in all, please be mindful of the real product/service that you are actually paying for. All interior designers can show you pretty pictures, but it's about the team and the service - and I hope my experience helps others. Thanks! edit: forgot to add that waterproofing had to be done 3 times in our bathrooms. who doesn't want it 3 times, now we are triple proofed? truly living the dream

I have worked with Danny on my house renovation since Aug 2022. The whole project lasted for 4.5 months and Danny has been really helpful throughout the whole period. At first, Danny gave a very detailed measurement of my house. Based on the measurement, Danny provided the design prototype, based on our preference on style, color and so on. The prototype was pretty satisfactory and he further revised the design thoroughly based on our feedback. During the renovation period, Danny was always communicating with us on the project progress. The reporting was so detailed that we could always trust him on managing the project. Danny also invited us to visit on site and choose the best material for the house. During the last month of the renovation, Danny also worked diligently to make sure every detail of the house was done in a good shape. We are satisfied with the final renovation results and would like to give Danny a 5-star for his high quality and diligent work.

DreamCatcher was recommended by one of my friends; the project has been completed now, and I am very pleased with their service. Martin and Cindy had spent quite some time with me during the design phase, answering all of my questions and clearing the doubts, although some of my ideas might not be practical at all. 😛I was out of town for a few weeks during renovation, Cindy helped a lot in coordinating with subcontractors so that the project can be completed in time. The overall experience was very pleasant. Thanks to Martin and Cindy!

Martin was a dependable ID who guaranteed that our project was completed in time. The quality of the finishing was good. Cindy and Martin was our ID, they helped us form the concept for the design. We took a long time deciding on the concept but they were patient and we fell in love with it. The actual renovation took two weeks and we came back to a beautiful home! Rectifications were done within the week and we were very pleased with it overall. 👍

It has never ever occurred to me in this lifetime that I will have the golden opportunity to fully renovate my "old" house. Old house with the flushing toilet system; squat toilet; retro HDB kitchen wall tiles (if you call it), aluminium toilet door; greenish floor tiles etc. Thus when the opportunity arises, my best friend and I set off on our exciting journey to look for the right person to make my dream house come true! Every weekend we will be so eager to meet up with this ID and that ID but all did not end well. Some will mock at the budget I put up; some will spend hours and hours selling their expertise but no follow-up after our meeting; some will want you to pay for this and that. Some will be so forceful to want you to take up their packages, if not.... We were almost giving up, telling ourselves "what the hack all these IDs are!" (Sorry for the language here). Was about just to get a contractor to do the job. Then, I remembered one afternoon I received a text from this guy; he said he was from Dreamcatcher Interior Design. He wanted to meet up with us to discuss our renovation. My best friend, she was funny. She said let's meet up with him and see if he is our 'Dreamcatcher'? So, here we are at Dreamcatcher and what impressed us about SHIA LIN was he is a very down-to-earth man (which I think it's the most basic requirement to be an ID). We were in awe when he presented our renovation quotation; considered as our first meeting! (well, some of you might think that he wants to secure the deal, so he have to be all prepared, but I think it's very professional of him to get it done.) I must say I was impressed. But he was not pushy to secure the deal, he gave me some cooling period to think through it. Finally, on November 25, 2017, I secured the deal with him and engaged him as my ID. Our most experiential learning journey begins; Shia has extremely vast knowledge of all raw materials. I remembered every time whenever I want something that is of good quality, he would recommend me good stuffs like Cerarl Panel & BLUM. Before renovation starts, he will make many trips to my humble abode and he will observe our daily activities especially the kitchen cos my mum spends most of her time in there. He will observe how my mum works in the kitchen and will design the new kitchen to her advantage (She's extremely happier in her kitchen now, haha) Shia is a very meticulous person. He will look into details, like soft round edges, and if it's not advisable to have these fixtures or that, he will give his professionals advice. He's a man of words too; he will honour his promises if he promised you that he will do it, he will get it done. (That's the second requirement of an ID) And anytime, anywhere he can be contacted unless he's very very sick but then he will still get back to you. Cos I am working during the renovation period, thus I totally leave my house under his care and he never failed me. He would send videos or photos to ease my worries and I really appreciate it. And each time when I saw it, I would be happy all day long. He would even go the extra miles to rectify some problems or hiccups along the way. Now, after 2 months of renovation, my dream house came alive! And now I can live happily ever after. Thanks to you, Mr Shia Lin. I am extremely grateful to you and your teams (The carpenter, the electrician, the painter, the plasterer, the plumbers) They are your excellent team players. We are also impressed with the hackers, they are so clean in clearing all the debris, no complaint from the neighbours.
