Extreme HDB Makeovers - See it to Believe it!

 I came across these amazing HDB makeovers in Freshome and you have got to check out these unbelievable transformations to believe 'erm yourself!

The first makeover was for a 30 year old HDB unit. This apartment earned 3 Ds from me; it was in a Deplorable, Decrepit and Dilapidated state since it has been rented out to tenants for years. It was plagued with problems such as cracked floor and wall tiles, leaking and spalling concrete ceiling which make the revamp process a true nightmare.

 

Look at how this unit has been magically transformed into a bright, cheerful and funky apartment which boasts a hint of retro chic! Colourful strips of yellow, orange and brown adorn throughout the entire apartment, complete with elegant spruced up marble flooring. Instead of paint, complementary wallpapers are used for the bed-head wall in the bedroom.

A half height TV feature wall that pulls triple duty as a partition and work desk is also installed. I believe that walls are also torn down to make the bedroom look more spacious and airy. A crystal chandelier completes the elegant contemporary look!

The second makeover was for a HDB unit that was in a better plight. Although in a shoddy and shabby condition, the place badly needed a face-lift and adapt to the changing lifestyle and needs of its occupants. Here are the "before" photos.

 

Walls were torn down and the entire place were reconfigured; a dining area was added to allow the occupants to host dinner with guests. The utility room has since been re-purposed into a work cum guest room. Mirrors, coupled with light coloured walls and appropriately sized furniture made the 550 square feet one bedroom apartment appear bigger and brighter than it really is.

Ample storage space was also set aside and multiple functional furniture such as shoe storage which pulled double duty as an additional seating for guests and a partition that doubled up as a wardrobe ensured the space they occupied was fully maximised.

It is really an inspiring and humbling experience to witness how the renovation professionals took over these HDB units and wielded their magic to remold, reconstruct and completely transform them into such fascinating, splendidly beautiful abodes.
