- Oct 3, 2013
Having a renovation project for your home is never easy. If you are feeling overwhelmed a little bit lost, you have to learn a few easy steps to de-stress. In this two part article, we highlight ways on how you can take it just a tad bit easier on yourself when your home is undergoing renovations. Creating the home of your dreams need not be insane. It may be overwhelming, as strangers are coming in and out of your house every day during the renovation period and some of the fixtures you are accustomed to are not readily available. However, you need to keep your cool for a less stressful renovation project.
- You need to understand that this is a renovation project and reality is that this renovation project will only be as good as your input, budget and your renovation contractor. Understand that your home will not be drastically transformed after the renovation. There are possibilities and potentials, but you have to know the space limitations and even other limitations such as your plumping and electric wiring set-up.
- You need to come up with a proper budget for your renovation project. Once you have estimated your budget, add 10% to that as a buffer. Then visit showrooms and see how far your renovation budget will get you. Note that labour and materials need careful calculations. So be sure that you know what you want to avoid being stressed out at the end of your renovation project.
- You need to find a very reliable, very good contractor. In Singapore, there are plenty of renovation contractors. You can find them on the internet or through physical directories. Make sure that the contractor has a good portfolio to show and that they get a good review or feedback from their previous clients.
