10 HDB Bathrooms where Storage Reigns Supreme

  • Oct 24, 2018

Think HDB bathrooms are too space-constraint to contain proper storage? These small but storage-mighty HDB bathrooms will have you think again. 1. Rather than go for a closed vanity cupboard, the homeowners went with versatile wicker baskets to organise their bathroom. It’s also an affordable way to bring in a little rusticity and texture into the clean and contemporary space. Design: The Local Inn.terior Location: Choa Chu Kang 2. Use of that often overlooked space above the toilet to put in some extra storage space into the bathroom. Shallow shelves are a good idea since they don’t obstruct movement when using the toilet. Design: Charlotte’s Carpentry Location: Bukit Batok West 3. You can still include storage above the toilet even if your toilet sits below a window. Create a custom shelf that embraces the window into the design without blocking the ventilation from the opening. Design: Design Neu Location: Ang Mo Kio 4. Doing away with conventional above-sink cabinets or vanity cupboards, this bathroom embraces instead a full-length closed cabinet that hangs from the ceiling. The ‘floating’ design of the storage unit ensures the bottom of the cabinet doesn’t get wet. Design: I.Poise Location: Marine Drive Gardens 5. Hang out your towels to dry on bar rods rather than hooks to dry them up properly after use, lest they provide breeding grounds for germs and mildew. A smaller rod for smaller linens is part of the bathroom mirror shelf unit, while a larger rack for towels is installed above the toilet. Design: DB Studio Location: Ang Mo Kio 6. We like using recessed shelves in the shower to store toiletries, as they tend to be less obstructive than say, with ledges or off-the-rack shelves. Do note that they will take up more room to build since in order to create a recess, your contractor will need to build an additional wall, so you might be left with a narrower shower area. Design: Linear Space Concepts Location: Kim Tian 7. Here’s an unconventional bathroom layout to consider. The vanity counter in this HDB bathroom extends all the way to the open shower area, doubling as a shower ledge for toiletries. The design creates room for a slim, full-height cabinet to store extra toilet rolls and additional bathroom amenities. Design: I-Chapter Location: Whampoa Drive 8. Floating shelves are a lot less visually intrusive, which make them perfect storage options for that narrow space above your commode. Here, the wooden shelves match the laminates of the vanity as well as the small ledge above the toilet roll, drawing a uniform theme throughout the small bathroom. Design: Space Factor Location: Tanjong Pagar 9. A single wooden ledge extends from the side of the bathroom vanity along the length of the bathroom wall. Coupled with the wall-to-wall mirror above it, the shelf functions as a standing makeup table and dressing area for the occupants. Design: The Local Inn.terior Location: Joo Seng Road 10. A full dressing table in your petite HDB bathroom might sound like an impossible pipe dream, but it’s possible if you can afford to reduce the size of your vanity sink. A slim dressing table ensures enough room to accommodate one in this bathroom. Wall shelves also provide storage room for moisturisers and perfume decanters.
